Manaakitanga in Motion
Fuel the Journey - A Fundraiser for Care Spaces and Consent Club
—
This year, instead of gifts for my birthday, I wanted to turn the celebration into something that gives back 💛
Together, we’re raising funds towards a dedicated waka/van to carry the people, resources and equipment needed to keep this mahi moving wherever it is needed. We all know my little Suzuki Swift isn’t going to cut it anymore 🤣
Come gather with us for a special night of music, movement, connection, creativity and collective care: raising funds towards a dedicated waka/van for Care Spaces and Consent Club, helping bring the summer mahi to festivals and communities across Aotearoa.
For years, this kaupapa has created spaces where people can pause, breathe, reconnect, feel supported and find a soft place to land. From consent support and harm reduction, to simply being there when someone needs a little care and a cup of tea; manaakitanga is at the heart of it all.
—
Expect a night of:
Local artists and DJs, warm grooves, chunky basslines and dancefloor energy
Burner art, community offerings and a few surprises
Spaces for connection, creativity, rest and reflection between dancing
Opportunities to contribute to a kaupapa grounded in manaakitanga
This gathering intentionally centres and celebrates our queer, trans takatāpui, MVPFAFF+, LGBTQIA+, femme, BIPOC and other communities who have helped shape our creative, underground and festival spaces, while warmly welcoming anyone who believes in kindness, consent and collective care 🌈
Whether you’re a seasoned festival creature, a curious newcomer, or someone who simply believes in creating kinder communities, we’d love to have you with us.
Come dance. Come connect. Come celebrate!
Want to be a part of the mahi?
We’ll have opportunities at the event to sign up for upcoming Care Spaces and Consent Club mahi for the summer months.
There is training provided online and on-the-ground for and at the various events; which helps our teams feel a lot more prepared, connected and confident in the mahi.
If you’ve been curious about getting involved, come have a kōrero/chat with one of our guardians (in the pink high-vis!) on the night. They’ll be around to answer questions, share more about the kaupapa and hellp you get signed up 🩷
