West Australian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Northey, presents a contemporary programme pairing music and visual art. Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Fog, written for architect Frank Gehry’s 90th birthday, receives its Australian premiere. It is followed by the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Vanessa Perica, commissioned for WASO by Catherine Dunn. Steve Reich’s Reich/Richter, also an Australian premiere, combines Reich’s music with kaleidoscopic visual art by German artist Gerhard Richter.
