Our Mission

Cobram Rotary is bringing Just A Farmer to our district because we believe in the importance of connection, conversation and looking out for one another.

While the film is set within a farming family, its message reaches well beyond the farm gate. Mental health challenges can touch any of us — our families, friends, neighbours and workmates.

Our aim is to use the power of this Australian story to bring our community together, encourage conversations that are sometimes difficult to start, and increase awareness of the support available when it is needed.

Most importantly, we want this to be a welcoming, non-judgemental evening where people can connect, enjoy the film and leave perhaps a little more confident about recognising when someone may need support — and knowing how to reach out.

Just A Farmer is first and foremost a compelling Australian story.

Authentic, sometimes confronting, but also warm, funny and hopeful, it explores family, relationships, loss and resilience against the very familiar backdrop of rural Australia.

And audiences have responded. The independently made Australian film has received recognition both at home and internationally, including major film festival awards and an Audience Choice Award in France.

Perhaps its greatest impact, though, happens after the credits roll.
