— Metamorphosis of The White Snake

The White Snake legend is well-known Chinese folklore recounting a story of love and revenge, but more importantly, a tale about the relationship between two women not accepted by society but bound together in kinship. The White Snake — yao 妖 — names a being of ambiguity and change: not simply monster, spirit or fairy, but a body that crosses boundaries and unsettles categories.

In Green, In White is a contemporary encounter with the legend exploring how two performers move together inside shared cultural motifs while carrying different bodily memories, lived experiences, and ways of being seen.

Drawing on Chinese dance and W_acking, Weichen and Jiawen move between human and more-than-human, visibility, and opacity. Exploring transformation and companionship, In Green, In White asks how companionship and identity are influenced by cultural and social systems.
