Fan Out: A New Chapter for Monash Film Society
What began as an idea has become something much bigger.
This year, more than 40 Monash Film Society members came together to create something our society had never attempted before: our first-ever major short film production.
Across months of planning, rehearsing and filming, our members stepped onto a professional-style film set, worked across a full range of crew departments, and gained hands-on experience with professional filmmaking equipment. For many, it was their first opportunity to be part of a production of this scale.
On Wednesday 7 October, that journey reaches its final frame.
Join us for the premiere of Fan Out - a celebration not only of the short film itself, but of the cast, crew and community that brought it to life.
About Fan Out
Fan Out is a short comedy-drama written by experienced writer and performer Lisa Baker and directed by Monash Film Society President Himalaya Joshi.
The film follows the chaos that ensues when four university students accidentally submit fanfiction for a major assignment. What follows is an attempt to break into their lecturer's office and delete the file - a spontaneous mission that gradually spirals into mayhem.
On the night
Come dressed for the occasion and join us for an evening featuring:
The premiere screening of Fan Out
A chance to meet the cast and crew behind the film
A cast and crew Q&A following the screening
Pizza, drinks, snacks and popcorn
A candy bar
Most importantly, come celebrate the end of a project that has brought together dozens of filmmakers, performers and creatives - and marks the beginning of a new chapter for filmmaking at Monash Film Society.
One film. More than 40 collaborators. Months in the making.
