Dropout Comedy now lives on Tuesday nights. Same room, same rawness and same chance to catch lightning in a pint glass.

At 8:30pm sharp‑ish, it begins... the brave, the curious and the quietly hilarious step up to test their timing, their nerve and their best one‑liners. It’s for first‑timers chasing the thrill and seasoned comics trying out new material. And most importantly, it’s for anyone who craves something real.

In a world where everything’s AI‑generated, polished and predictable, this is the opposite. You can’t fake crowd energy. You can’t rehearse the moment a joke lands (or doesn’t). You have to feel it.... that’s the art.

Dropout Comedy is a safe and inclusive space, but comedy can be unpredictable. Jokes may push boundaries, challenge norms or land in unexpected places. We don’t censor the mic, but we do expect respect for the room, for the performers and for each other.

Hosted each week by Craig Westenberg or Thomas Chapman, rotating between two of Auckland’s sharpest, funniest and most chaotic comedy shepherds.

Dropout Comedy happens in Dead Witch, our upstairs live room inside Ding Dong Lounge. Enter through the Ding Dong Lounge main doors, head down the stairs, walk across the dance floo, and you’ll find the Dead Witch entrance between the bar and the DJ booth. We don’t open upstairs until 8:30pm, so if you arrive early you can grab a drink in the main bar and chill before heading up.

Tickets are free, but we recommend booking ahead. Everyone who books goes in the draw to win a $75 dining voucher for you and a mate to use on the night. All you need to do is be 18 or over, book your free tickets on our website and arrive before 8:30pm to be eligible. Terms and Conditions apply.
