Workshop: Finesse Your Editing Skills with Show vs Tell - Bringing Your Story to Life

Show vs Tell – Bringing Your Story to Life

A one-hour practical workshop for anyone who tells stories on the page - fiction, memoir, nonfiction or anything in between. One of the most common pieces of writing advice is 'show don't tell' - but what does it actually mean, and how do you use it in your own writing? In this friendly, hands-on workshop, editor and writing coach Jackie Washington explains it simply and clearly, with time to try it out together.

Examples will be provided, but feel free to bring a page of your own work if you'd like to use it.

Saturday 19th September | 12:30–3:30pm | Burleigh Waters Community Centre, Gold Coast | $9 members ($10 at the door) / $14 non-members ($15 at the door)

ABOUT GCWA

The Gold Coast Writers’ Association is a not-for-profit association.

Our mission is to encourage and support writers from all genres, age groups, and levels of experience to grow, learn, and excel in their craft.

Our events offer the opportunity to connect and share with like-minded people in a relaxed environment.

Guest speakers are invited from all genres of writing. Speakers are encouraged to share information about their writing life, discuss their techniques, and sell their books.

We encourage guest speakers to include a mini-workshop for members during their presentation.

Workshops are held at each event. These workshops provide informal opportunities for members and visitors to enjoy hands-on writing, listening, and reading activities in small groups.

Membership offers the additional advantages of being able to sell your books at our Saturday events, attending our member-only critique groups, and much more.
