Sylvia Park Shopping Centre HOYTS CINEMA, Auckland

It's an honour to welcome Padma Shri WAHEEDA REHMAN with her classic hit film Teesri Kasam to New Zealand for the opening night in Auckland on the 22nd October 5pm onwards. The film won the National Award for Best Film in 1966.

In attendance, 20 filmmakers including ANURAG KASHYAP cast, producers, directors from Indian cinema.

This first ever Indian Film Festival will showcase 10 features, 16 shorts and 4 special screenings.

With 11 languages from Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada,Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, French, Japanese, Hindi, English, Nepali, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Kumaoni and even a silent film. The festival is celebrating languages and storytelling from across India. [List of films on www.tiffnz.com 5 Sep]

All films are New Zealand premieres, which means it has NEVER been on a NZ screen!

The VIP lounge at the cinema venue (Sylvia Park Auckland) will be open for ONLY festival badge holders to network through the day and enjoy the company of other filmmakers, cinephiles and build connections over chai.

You could also bump into a few of our guests attending the festival!

25 October celebrating restored film PAKEEZAH which has never been screened again after 1972. Wear your best anarkalis, kurtas and chandbalis, and walk the red carpet for some unforgettable photos!
