Celebrating Cultures Pop-Up: Whakairo, Traditional Māori Carving Workshop

Thu 1 Oct 2:30pm - 4pm

The Conservatory, Auckland

Come along and explore whakairo (traditional Māori carving) in a welcoming, hands-on workshop for the whole community. With eight years of experience in whakairo, the facilitator shares carving as a practical and culturally grounded way to connect people with creativity, culture and a sense of purpose. Whether you are new to carving or have some experience, this is an opportunity to slow down, focus and learn in a supportive environment. Whakairo is about more than learning how to carve. Come and learn about the traditions and values behind Māori carving while developing practical skills and creating something of your own to take home.

Suitable for 8+years

The Pop-Up offers a unique opportunity to embrace our community’s rich cultural heritage through arts, culture, and connection. Don’t miss out, come experience the heart and soul of our community in a welcoming and inclusive space!
