Our Inner West Toy Swap is your local chance to take part - a fun, free and meaningful way for families to connect, give pre-loved toys a second life, and take home something new-to-you.

What to expect:

Bring along any toys, games, and books as long as they are in working condition for reuse. Please check each item and have them clean prior to the day.

Learn about the importance of sustainability and reusing items.

Connect with like-minded individuals who care about our community and environment.

Have fun while making a positive impact!

Simple rules to follow:

Bring some toys or books to swap that should not be more than a bagful

Ask yourself: Is this item good enough for my friend or another child to use?

Due to safety concerns, you must check that all battery-operated items (toys, games and books) are in working condition and replace their batteries when necessary. Battery-operated toys should have battery cases secured by screws or other means to prevent children from prying them open.

We may refuse any items that are not in the desired condition, and you will be required to take them away with you and not leave anywhere on the Inner West Sustainability Hub premises.

All children and minors are to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, please be aware photos will be taken throughout the event so please indicate to staff on arrival if you don't want your picture taken.

What happens if I have broken toys?

Unfortunately, we have limited options for broken toys.

If there are items that cannot be recycled, please contact your local council to inquire about disposal options. Most hard plastic toys can't be recycled so need to be placed in your red landfill bin at end of life. Wooden or fabric toys are more likely to be able to be repaired so consider this when choosing toy options.

This free workshop is presented by the Green Living Centre, an initiative of Inner West Council. As numbers are limited, this offering is only available to residents of Inner West Council area. Search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area, if you're unsure. Proof of residency is required before attending.
