General Book Club

Thu 22 Oct 2am - 3:30am

542 Barkly St, Melbourne

Our General Book Club is a welcoming, curious, and thoughtfully curated reading group for people who love great books and good conversation. Each month, we select a standout work of contemporary fiction or literary nonfiction, chosen by our booksellers for its craft, ideas, and ability to spark meaningful discussion.

The book club has regular members but is also open to new readers and those looking to read a little more regularly, with no pressure to be an expert or to finish every page. Meetings are relaxed, friendly, and conversational, creating space for different perspectives, questions, and quiet observations alike.

As an independent bookshop, we prioritise diverse voices, Australian writing, and books that linger long after the final page. Expect a mix of acclaimed new releases, hidden gems, and thought-provoking reads that invite connection.

Whether you come every month or dip in when a book speaks to you, our General Book Club is about slowing down, reading together, and sharing the joy of books in community.
