This special event marks the culmination of the My Story My World project - a vibrant series of creative residencies delivered in partnership with Healthway and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, The KIDS Research Institute Australia, Ellenbrook Youth Centre, the City of Swan, Ellenbrook Central, and some of Western Australia’s most inspiring artists.

Over several months, young people from Ellenbrook and surrounding areas have taken part in creative workshops that encouraged self-expression, connection, and storytelling. This exhibition is a celebration of their journeys and the artworks they’ve created.

A new space, a new chapter

This exhibition is also a special milestone for Ellenbrook Arts as we open the doors to our new gallery space at 1/33 The Broadway. My Story My World will be the very first exhibition presented in our new home, making this celebration extra special for our young artists, their families and the wider community.

The exhibition will also feature work created by students from Alta1 College’s Malaga, Ellenbrook and Armadale Middle Campuses, who have been working alongside professional Creative Practitioners to explore big ideas through creativity, making and collaboration. Students have responded to different SOLVE questions, using creative practice to explore ideas about themselves, their communities and the wider world.

The Big Bang

What if we could show how everything began by connecting creation stories, science, and imagination and what problems would we solve to create better worlds?

Conscious Consumers

How do our everyday choices as consumers connect to modern-day slavery- and what small actions can we take to create a more ethical and responsible world?

The Kindness Project

How can we use creativity to share messages that build a kinder future? This exhibition celebrates the students' creativity, individuality and willingness to tackle big questions. Through the projects, they have developed confidence, experimented with new ideas and materials, and discovered how creative thinking can be used to explore problems and imagine possibilities for their future and their worlds. It has been wonderful to see their ideas develop throughout the process, and this exhibition provides an opportunity for them to share their voices and creative achievements with the wider community.
