Taupō Choral Society proudly presents Solid Gold, a landmark community concert celebrating fifty years of choral music in Taupō. This special anniversary event will be directed by our patron, acclaimed New Zealand composer David Hamilton, whose works are performed internationally and admired for their vibrant choral writing. To mark our half‑century milestone, David has written a brand‑new piece especially for Taupō Choral Society—a gift to the choir and the community. We are honoured to premiere this work alongside distinguished soprano Morag Atchison, one of New Zealand’s most respected vocal performers and teachers.
Taupō Choral Solid Gold reflects the breadth of music that has shaped the choir’s journey over five decades. The programme features highlights from our history, including beloved choruses from Handel’s Messiah and other favourites that have accompanied the choir through its many eras. This concert blends celebration, nostalgia, and musical excellence. Solid Gold is more than a performance—it is a tribute to the people, partnerships, and passion that have sustained our choir for fifty years, and a joyful look toward the next fifty.
