Jubilee Building Tour with Blind Low Vision NZ

Tue 29 Sep 11am - 12:30pm

Jubilee Building - Parnell Community Centre, Auckland

Explore the rich and complex history of the Jubilee Building as a residential institute and school for the blind. Learn about the classrooms, workshops, dining room, and hostels of the Jubilee Building and surrounding structures, where residents lived, learned, and worked during the 20th century.

This tour is led by Chris Orr, former resident and current Blind Low Vision NZ board member who has dedicated over 46 years to the organisation. Chris is joined by his guide dog, Kiwi.

Spaces are limited to 25 attendees. To register, please email parnelllibrary@aklc.govt.nz or call 09 377 0209 and ask for Parnell Library.

Facilitated by Blind Low Vision NZ, together with Parnell Community Centre and Parnell Library, who share the Jubilee Building space.

This tour is part of the Auckland Heritage Festival. It is followed by another festival event in the same location - an author talk on Chinese market gardening in Parnell. Make a day of it and come along to both! https://www.facebook.com/share/1CVfF9o1L4/
