Awakening the Subtle Body with Joan Hyman

Fri 19 Feb 9am - Sun 21 Feb 3:30pm

Bhakti Lounge Wellington, Wellington

About the training

This immersive training invites you to awaken the subtle body through the practice of yoga. The subtle body is the energetic field that connects body, breath and mind.

Over the course of this 3-day training, we explore how movement, breath and awareness shape the flow of prana. Through asana, pranayama and meditation, you will deepen your connection to the more subtle layers of your practice and refine how you move, breathe and sequence with intention.

What you will explore

The foundations of yoga energetics including prana, nadis, bandhas and chakras

the relationship between physical alignment and the energetic flow

Sequencing as a tool to guide prana through the body

Pranayama and meditation as gateways to the subtle body

Safe and intelligent progressions toward more advanced postures

Any questions? Head to our FAQ at the bottom of the page.

SCHEDULE

The training is 3 full days with each day designed to lead on to the next. Lunch break is from 12-1:30pm.

Friday 9am - 4pm - Sequencing towards arm balances

We explore sequencing as a roadmap for practice and learn how arm balances support lightness, strength and flow. Themes include prana, the five koshas, bandhas and biomechanics as a gateway to the subtle body. The day ends with pranayama practice.

Saturday 9am - 4pm - Sequencing towards inversions and inner body awareness

A deeper exploration of inversions and their effect on the inner body. We study the nadis and sushumna and how sequencing supports inward awareness. The day closes with restorative postures and meditation.

Sunday 9am - 3:30pm - Sequencing for backbends and subtle body integration

Backbends to uplift prana and access the more subtle layers of practice. We will explore the chakras as the most refined energetic layer and integrate everything through sequencing, meditation, and pranayama. A quiet inward ending to conclude the training.
