Maybe it was a conversation.
A person.
An idea.
An inspiration.
An unexpected opportunity.
Or an enormous "OH MY GOD !" when suddenly everything became clear.
Perhaps it was the moment you knew you were leaving.
The moment you knew you were staying.
The moment you fell in love.
The moment you finally let go.
The moment a plan you had carried for years suddenly went out the window, because something else had become possible.
There was life before that moment.
And there was life after it.
StoryJam #004 is about those moments when something changed inside us, around us, or for us - and somehow, things could never be quite the same again.

StoryJam is a monthly storytelling night on the Sunshine Coast where real people get together and share true stories from their own lives.
Stories that make us laugh.
Stories that surprise us.

And stories that remind us just how much we have in common.
Every month we explore a different theme and invite storytellers to step up to the microphone and share a true personal story.
You don't need notes, you don't need experience, you don't even have to tell a story.
Storytelling is one of the oldest ways human beings connect.
And for a few minutes, at StoryJam, we get to experience life through somebody else's eyes - and sometimes discover a little more about our own.

Storyteller Information
StoryJam welcomes both first-time and experienced storytellers.
If you'd like to share a story relating to the theme of the night, simply let us know when booking your ticket.
We may contact you before the event to chat about your story and answer any questions you may have.
No pressure. No performance experience required.
Just real people sharing real stories.
Stories shared on the night's theme are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes.
We will invite storytellers to arrive 10 minutes before our start time so everyone knows what's happening.
Format for the Evening
The evening is divided into two parts.
Part One - Featured Stories
The night begins with a short welcome and opening story from the night's host.
We'll then hear a series of true stories inspired by the theme of the night. Some storytellers may be invited in advance, while others may be selected from audience members who put their names in the hat !
Each storyteller will have up to 10 minutes to share their story, after which we get to tell them what we loved about it.
We'll continue sharing stories until the middle of the evening, when we'll take a short break.
Every StoryJam will be a little different, and the number of storytellers may vary depending on the length of the stories and the flow of the evening.
Part Two - Open Mic StoryJam
After the break, it's everyone's turn !
Three surprise prompts will be revealed, hopefully triggering memories of true events from your life.
They may be nostalgic, hilarious, poignant, inspirational or vulnerable moments.
You'll be invited to step up to the microphone and, in up to 2 minutes, share a short true story inspired by one of the prompts.
This is a chance to be spontaneous, have fun, surprise yourself and maybe discover a forgotten story that's been waiting to be told.

• We all have different experiences and perspectives. There is no right or wrong story
• True personal stories told in your own words
• No politics, preaching, slurs, personal attacks, put-downs or selling
• No heckling or interrupting storytellers
• Phones on silent
• This is not a competition
• This is not a lecture or a debate
• StoryJam is about connection, community and storytelling
Photography & Recording
Photographs, video and audio recordings may be taken during StoryJam.
By attending, you consent to the use of your image, voice and likeness in future StoryJam promotional materials, including social media, websites and marketing content.
If you have concerns about being photographed or recorded, please speak with us before the event.

Your contact details will be managed through Humanitix and used for event administration and communication relating to StoryJam.
