Douce Ambiance

Thu 8 Oct 7pm

Civic Theatre, Invercargill

Douce Ambiance perform a programme that is part planned and part improvised, moving through flamenco, classical, Irish, light jazz, Spanish choro and Gypsy styles. A featured pairing is Astor Piazzolla’s gentle “Tanti Anni Prima” (“Ave Maria”) and the contrasting “Escualo” (“The Shark”), an intense, rhythm-driven work inspired by the composer’s shark fishing. The quartet comprises Cathy Irons on violin, Dan Robertson on keyboard, Dougal Canard on guitar and double bass, and Douglas Brush on percussion; all also perform with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
