This handpan workshop will be facilitated Baran Yildiz, an internationally acclaimed handpan musician and leading educator. Instruments will be provided for the workshop to enable group exercises. Please bring along your own instrument as well if it is in the scale of D-minor (D-Kurd) and if you would like to play with it instead.

Level 1: This will be my very first time of playing the handpan

Level 2: I have been playing for a while and have participated in 1 or 2 workshops or lessons previously

Level 3: I have been playing for more than a year. I have attended a few workshops therefore I am familiar with the basics but I still am in the early days and consider myself a beginner

Level 4: I have been playing for more than two years. I have attended various workshops and taken lessons. I can play some patterns comfortably and have a good sense of rhythm and understanding of handpan but I still have a lot to learn and improve

Level 5: I have been playing for more than two, three years. I have done various workshops/lessons previously. I have compositions that I can play comfortably play but I am still looking to expand my understanding of music and improve my handpan and composition skills.

This workshop will be hosted at the Melodic Forest music shop in Villawood, Sydney.

The workshop may cover one or more of the following topics considering participants' experience and interests:

Practical tips and exercises to unlock the melodic potential of your instruments

Rhythmical phrasing to create musical conversations
