Unearthed | Ceramic Charms with Cathy Zhang

Thu 24 Sep 1pm - 2:30pm

Room G.14, Australian National University School of Art & Design, Canberra

Join local artist Cathy Zhang in making ceramic charms inspired by the Unearthed: Chinese Funerary Ceramics from the National Gallery of Australia exhibition.

About the Artist

Cathy Zhang works across fields of ceramics, sculpture and contemporary jewellery. Her practice explores how objects and materials can shape encounters between people, place and idea. Her work investigates the shared qualities of liquidity, structure and transformation through material processes, creating works that oscillate at the edge of the functional and the speculative. Taking clues from vessels, the body, and our relationship to the environments we inhabit, Zhang embraces the capacity of form to hold traces of time, movement and material connection.

Visit the exhibition webpage for further information and the latest public program.

The Australian Centre on China in the World acknowledges the ANU School of Art & Design for their support of the workshop.
